The American Women Quarter honoring Jovita Idar is part of a four-year program that celebrates the accomplishments and contributions made by women of the United States. Beginning in 2022, and continuing through 2025, the U.S. Mint will issue five new reverse designs each year, each featuring an accomplished American woman. The women honored are from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds. In keeping with the theme of honoring women, the obverse of each quarter depicts a likeness of George Washington that was composed and sculpted by famed American artist Laura Gardin Fraser in 1932.
