SpongeBob SquarePants is a character in an animated television series which first aired in 1999, chronicling the adventures of SpongeBob SquarePants and his aquatic friends in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom.
The show features a range of colourful and humorous characters, all based on marine animals but set in a human-like urban world. It has screened for 15 seasons and won numerous awards.

The Perth Mint’s officially licensed SpongeBob SquarePants 2024 2oz Silver Proof Gilded Coin, which marks the 25th anniversary of the series, recreates the colour and fun of the television program in numismatic form. The packaging is designed to complement this light-hearted approach while incorporating elements to surprise and appeal to fans of the series and others new to SpongeBob’s underwater world.

Each coin is presented in a plastic replica of SpongeBob’s iconic pineapple home and packaged in a themed presentation box with a customised sleeve. The pineapple is designed to be an authentic three-dimensional representation of the imagery from the series, complete with windows, front door and chimney. The leafy top of the pineapple is detachable so it can be removed for easy storage and transport.

In 2024 we were awarded Collectible Partner of the Year (ANZ) by Paramount for our SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coins. The award recognises the way our coins honoured both animated series and pushed boundaries to bring innovative concepts to life.
